Candlemass – Psalms For The Dead Review – Metal Online Magazine brings you another great heavy metal story straight from the horse’s mouth!
Candlemass is one of the pioneers of doom metal, releasing one of the seminal albums in the genre back in 1986 with Epicus Doomicus Metallicus. A quarter century later the band has recorded what they say will be their final studio album, Psalms For The Undead. They still plan to play live and be around for their 30th anniversary in a couple of years. If this does end up being their swan song, it is a solid farewell. Reviewer Natalie Zed describes it as “unquestionably the finest of their most recent three releases, the work of seasoned musicians, with experience and craft now in place of raw talent and drive. The album is aware of itself, in the context of classic doom metal, seems to know exactly where it fits.”
